Same Same But Different

Dr Georgia McCorkill is a fashion designer & creator with a passion and focus on sustainable fashion. As a lecturer of the course Design Reuse at RMIT, innovation and reinvention are at the forefront of her teaching practices. Fashion industries are a major contributor to environmental pollution, with around 85% of textiles ending up in landfill. In response to such staggering figures, Georgia's students are inspired to revive previously loved textiles to create new innovative garments. SAME SAME BUT DIFFERENT is a 4 minute documentary that gives insight into the problematic nature of fast fashion. The short film opens a discussion for alternative industry practices, encouraging audiences to learn about and move towards a circular fashion economy.

For a Studio Class, Make Haste! Film Waste!, my group and I were put to create a short documentary about waste and the circular economy for Melbourne Knowledge Week. I filmed footage on sight at a recycling factory, filmed and interviewed audio interviews with participants and edited the footage together, resulting in a short documentary that was shown at Melbourne Knowledge Week along side a panel talk about waste and the circular economy.
